LET’S PROTECT THE LAGOON

IF YOU SEE A STROMATOLITE, DO NOT TOUCH IT OR CLIMB ON IT!

Stromatolites are fragile and very, very important for the ecology of the area! Stromatolites look like rocks at the shore of the lagoon, but they are living mineral structures. They release oxygen to the atmosphere and help keep the lagoon in optimal conditions.

DO NOT WEAR SUNSCREEN, TANNING, REPELLENT OR ANY OTHER LOTIONS BEFORE GETTING INTO THE WATER

We advise you to wear biodegradable products to protect your skin from the sun and mosquitos.

IF YOU FIND A “CHIVITA” SEASHELL, DO NOT TOUCH IT OR TAKE IT OUT OF THE WATER!

This little animal is in danger of extinction at the lagoon and it is the main pay of the seashell hawk.

DO NOT MAKE TOO MUCH NOISE IN THE MANGROVES AND JUNGLE AROUND THE LAGOON

Many birds and other species live and reproduce there. Noise may frighten them!

KEEP PUBLIC SPACES CLEAN. IF YOU SMOKE, KEEP CIGARETTE BUTTS WITH YOU UNTIL YOU CAN DISPOSE OF THEM IN A TRASHCAN.

Make sure your put all your trash and cigarette butts in a trashcan.

ALWAYS CARRY A THERMOS OR A REUSABLE BOTTLE OF WATER

Avoid buying disposable water bottles as much as you can.

DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS OR STRAWS IN VILLAGE STORES AND RESTAURANTS
